STUDENT EVALUATIONS

The numerical scores from the BEST student evaluations confirmed my self evaluation of my teaching performance in L216.  Generally speaking, I felt that I had structured an innovative course in which students could (and did) learn a lot, but I also felt I needed to work on giving the assignments more specific structure and giving students a better idea of my expectations of them.  Judging from the qualitative evaluations I distributed apart from the BEST evaluations, one student left the class disgruntled.  I rather suspect the student’s difficulties had more to do with a disrupted personal life and less to do with my teaching or the class.  I think the comments and quantitative results from the other 17 students, however, provide me with reliable information about my performance.
