Personal goals for teaching Gross Anatomy II

As I have said, I feel that understanding the anatomy of the limbs is essential to good practice, especially for would-be equine practitioners, but also for ruminant practitioners.  I also find equine limb structure and function very exciting and fascinating.  I want the students to become as excited as am I about this topic!  But I realize that practically, not all of them will be.  Therefore, my less-lofty goal is that all of the students appreciate the practical application of the information that I present.  In most cases, I try to include in my presentations only details that are relevant to practice.  I also try to organize the information in such a way that it is conceptually practical and easily retrievable.  I recognize that my natural inclination to presenting material conceptually in some cases causes me to gloss over some details, and this is a weakness of my approach.  In fact, Dr. Cash has noted in his observations of my lectures instances where I did not explain the details well enough.  I have been working in the last two years to find the balance between presentation of detail information and practical concepts.  I think I am improving.
